VALUE HEALTH AFRICA (VAHA) JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Job Title: Fundraising Manager Department:
Fundraising Location: Cameroon (frequent travel to the field).
Contract Duration:1year renewable based on output
Reports to: Executive Director, Outreach manager and all heads of programs
Job Purpose: The position is responsible for donor engagement, fundraising and proposal writing, and managing high value fundraising projects, international partnership development (IPD) and mobilization of strategic resources to support VAHA’s pillars.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·International Partnership Development.
·Lead the development of a fundraising strategy to meet the strategic targets of Value Health Africa
·Provide advice on institutional donor requirements and private foundations including reporting timelines and expectations
·Oversee proposal development through coordinating the establishment of proposal development working groups with support from other staffs to ensure key actions are delegated and timelines maintained.
·Advice Thematic Leaders/working groups on potential funding opportunities and changes in donor priorities.
·Establish a donor database for VAHA.
·Identify and source quality technical and programming support in a timely manner.
·Maintain up to date knowledge on donor funded projects and ensure reporting is completed to the donor in a timely manner.
·Support the drafting of external reports and work with Programme teams to finalize these in accordance with donor requirements and timelines.
·Network and liaise with key donors in country.
·Ensure resource mobilization team have individual work plans and up to date development plans.
·Collaborate and coordinate with other VAHA partners for support, advice and ideas.
·Function as focal point of contact for any fundraising-related matters with all Funding Affiliates.
·Work closely with all team members to ensure a timely submission of proposals and concept notes to donors.
·Manage & co-ordinate all the department work, ensuring correct, full transparent and accountable financial, administrative and operational procedures are followed.
·Ensure timely submission of Project Report/Project Progress Reports to donors.
·Manage & co-ordinate all the department work, ensuring correct, full transparent and accountable financial, administrative and operational procedures are followed
·Manage staff performance and provide regular feedback to staff, including interns and volunteers on their performance.
·Identify training needs of staff, including volunteers, and assist to create individual development plans.
·Organize staff development days on a regular basis that focus on key issues within the department to contribute to the overall success of the project.
·Assist and support project team to implement project activities effectively.
·Ensure maintenance of updated filling system (soft and hard)
·Other responsibilities as requested by the executive Director
Working Conditions: For the incumbent to be effective and efficient in the performance of his duties and responsibilities he must be provided with a minimum of the following:
2.Desktop, whiteboards, internet.
3.Support from other team members and managers.
Required Skills: To be able to carry out the above responsibilities, the Resource Mobilization Manager should have the following capabilities:
ØCameroonian with a Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline and minimum of 3 years working experience in resource mobilization and project management.
ØExcellent understanding of sponsorship function and its linkages.
ØAbility to meet tight deadlines and work independently, be innovative and creative.
ØExcellent computer, and interpersonal communications skills (written and verbal).
ØAbility to draft quality reports.
ØDemonstrate strong facilitation, negotiation and networking skills.
ØDemonstrate understanding and commitment to shared values of the organization: mutual respect; equity and justice; honesty and transparency; solidarity with poor and marginalized people; courage of conviction; and humility.
ØHave empathy as well as high commitment in working with poor and marginalized people.
